Bha Bha Ba streams on ZEE5 starting today, January 16, 2026, just 29 days after its December 18 theatrical debut. The Malayalam action-comedy features Dileep as a man who kidnaps Kerala’s Chief Minister, demanding the public air their grievances directly to him instead. Mohanlal appears in an extended cameo as a powerful gangster, adding major star power despite his brief screen time.
Director Dhananjay Shankar makes his debut with this mass spoof action film, which flopped at the box office despite heavy promotion and ensemble star casting.

The Story: Political Chaos and Public Demands
A stranger kidnaps Kerala’s newly sworn Chief Minister C.K. Joseph during his first public speech, but refuses ransom money. Instead, the kidnapper—known only as “The Commoner”—asks ordinary citizens to pen their grievances and promises direct access to the CM.
The CM’s son, Noble (played by Vineeth Sreenivasan), is an NIA officer consumed by vengeance. As his investigation intensifies, he discovers the kidnapper has organized networks of local youth carrying the CM’s image and voice across the state. The conflict escalates into action sequences, dark humor, and moments that push political satire into uncomfortable territory.
Cast & Production
Dileep leads the ensemble after years away from cinema following a high-profile legal case. Vineeth Sreenivasan and Dhyan Sreenivasan anchor supporting roles, with Vineeth playing the CM’s vengeful son.
Mohanlal appears as crime boss Ghilli Bala in an extended cameo—his first appearance marks the film’s pivotal tonal shift. S.J. Suryah, Salim Kumar, and Riyaz Khan fill character roles.
Composer Shaan Rahman scored the music, with cinematography by Armo. The screenplay came from Fahim Safar and Noorin Shereef.
Why the Rapid OTT Move?
Box office collections dropped sharply after a decent opening. By day 14, the film earned only ₹15 lakhs, signaling audience disinterest. Despite Mohanlal’s cameo and Dileep’s comeback hopes, the film failed to connect.
The 29-day shift to OTT reflects industry trends for underperforming releases in Malayalam cinema. ZEE5 acquired digital rights at a significant investment, offsetting theatrical losses for producers.
Critical & Audience Reception
Critics panned the film for weak storytelling, chaotic direction, and zero emotional logic. A controversy erupted over an insensitive assault scene that upset viewers, particularly given Dileep’s acquittal in a separate actress assault case just weeks earlier.
Mixed audience reactions centered on predictable plot points and exhausting pacing over its 144-minute runtime. The IMDB rating sits at 6.4/10.
Stream on ZEE5 & OTTplay Premium
Both platforms offer the film in Malayalam with English subtitles, plus Tamil and Kannada audio tracks. HD video streams with surround sound options available on supported devices.
ZEE5 membership runs ₹99-499 monthly depending on tier; OTTplay Premium requires active subscription.
Mohanlal fans: His extended cameo begins approximately 90 minutes into the film—skip the opening act if time is limited.
Who Should Watch
Dileep fans curious about his comeback will find interest despite critical dismissal. Those seeking political satire blended with action and comedy can judge Mohanlal’s performance firsthand. Viewers comfortable with chaotic storytelling and mass-oriented spoof comedy may appreciate the ensemble cast and big-budget production values
