Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana 2026: See Eligibility Before Applying

Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana 2026

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta Replaces the 18-Year-Old Ladli Scheme With the New Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana From April 1, 2026 Government Deposits ₹56,000 in Phased Education-Linked Installments, Growing to Over ₹1 Lakh at Graduation Through Accrued Interest

The Delhi government declared the Ladli Scheme closed effective March 31, 2026 the day before the new scheme activates. The Ladli Scheme provided ₹36,000 over a girl’s educational lifecycle, with smaller deposits at birth and key academic milestones. The Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana replaces that framework entirely increasing the total government deposit to ₹56,000, adding a ₹20,000 graduation-linked installment, and raising the maturity benefit by 55% compared to what Ladli delivered.

Existing Ladli beneficiaries will continue receiving their entitled installments under the old framework — the closure only stops new enrollments under Ladli. All new applicants from April 1, 2026 onwards will enroll exclusively under the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana.

Full Eligibility Criteria: Read This Before Applying

The Delhi government set clear and non-negotiable eligibility conditions for the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana. Failing to meet even one of these conditions results in automatic disqualification:

  • The girl must be born in Delhi — girls born outside Delhi do not qualify even if the family currently lives in Delhi
  • The family must have resided in Delhi for a minimum of three consecutive years — recent migrants do not qualify
  • Annual family income must not exceed ₹1.20 lakh — income certificates must reflect the current financial year
  • A maximum of two daughters per family can receive benefits — a third daughter in the same household does not qualify
  • The girl must be fully vaccinated according to government immunization guidelines
  • The girl must be enrolled in and attending a recognized school — unregistered private or informal institutions are excluded
  • Girls who marry before turning 18 lose all future benefits immediately upon early marriage

One important exception in the scheme’s favour: if a daughter pursues a diploma or degree at a college outside Delhi, she still qualifies for the graduation-linked ₹20,000 installment, as long as the institution is government-recognized.

How ₹56,000 Reaches ₹1 Lakh

The government deposits money directly into the girl’s Aadhaar-linked bank account at six distinct life stages:

Educational StageAmount Deposited
At Birth₹11,000
Admission to Class 1₹5,000
Admission to Class 6₹5,000
Admission to Class 9₹5,000
Admission to Class 12₹5,000
Graduation / Diploma Admission₹20,000
Total Government Deposit₹56,000
Maturity Amount (with Interest)₹1,00,000+

The interest accrues over the full duration from birth to graduation — typically 18 to 22 years — which pushes the final maturity value comfortably past the ₹1 lakh threshold.

When and How to Apply: Portal Goes Live April 1

The application portal activates on April 1, 2026 at edistrict.delhigovt.nic.in — the Delhi government’s unified services platform. Reports suggest the government may also launch a dedicated standalone portal specifically for Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana applications, though the official URL for the new portal is not publicly disclosed as of publication.

The step-by-step application process works as follows:

  1. Visit edistrict.delhigovt.nic.in from April 1, 2026
  2. Click “New User” and complete Aadhaar-linked registration
  3. Log in and navigate to “Apply for Services”
  4. Search for “Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana 2026” and open the form
  5. Fill in the girl child’s details — name, date of birth, school name, bank account details
  6. Upload all required documents in PDF or JPEG format
  7. Submit and download the Acknowledgement Slip — store it safely for future reference

Registration also accepts submissions done within one year of birth — or later at the time of admission to Class I, VI, IX, XI, or a recognized graduation or diploma course.

Documents You Must Prepare Before the Portal Opens

Families who want to apply on Day 1 should gather all documents well before April 1:

  • Girl child’s birth certificate issued by a Delhi municipal authority
  • Parents’ Aadhaar cards (both mother and father)
  • Residential proof dated at least 3 years prior — accepted documents include Ration Card, Electricity Bill, or Voter ID
  • Income certificate showing annual family income below ₹1.20 lakh (get this updated before March 31)
  • Aadhaar-linked bank account details — the girl’s own account is preferred for graduation-stage disbursements
  • School admission documents for milestone-based installment tracking
  • Vaccination records confirming full immunization compliance

What Happens to Current Ladli Beneficiaries

The Delhi government clarified that all girls currently receiving benefits under the Ladli Scheme will continue to receive their remaining entitled installments without disruption. No existing beneficiary needs to re-apply under Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana the two programs run as parallel systems during the transition period. New births and new school admissions from April 1, 2026 onwards, however, will only process through the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana framework.
