Seniors! 1 June health & food payment released. Check your account, direct deposit only – DWP

Published on

Great news for seniors across the UK — the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed that a special health and food support payment is being released on 1 June 2026. If you’re eligible, the money will land directly in your bank account — no cheques, no vouchers, no queues. But there’s one important thing you need to do right now: check your account details are up to date.

What Is This June Payment?

The DWP has been rolling out targeted financial support payments for older people as part of the government’s ongoing commitment to help seniors manage rising food and healthcare costs. This June payment is specifically designed to assist pensioners and low-income seniors who are struggling with everyday essentials like groceries, prescription costs, and basic health needs.

The payment is being processed as a direct bank deposit only — meaning if your bank details are not registered correctly with DWP or the Pension Service, you will not receive the money on time.

Who Is Eligible?

You may qualify for this June payment if you meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • You are aged 66 or over and currently receiving State Pension
  • You are claiming Pension Credit (Guarantee Credit or Savings Credit)
  • You receive Attendance Allowance or Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
  • You are on a low income and previously received a Cost of Living Payment
  • You are registered with DWP for any means-tested benefit as of May 2026

Even if you received previous support payments, it’s worth double-checking your eligibility as the criteria for this specific June release may differ slightly.

How Much Will You Receive?

While the exact payment amount varies based on individual benefit entitlement, seniors can typically expect:

  • £150 to £300 for those on Pension Credit or income-based benefits
  • £50 to £100 health supplement for those on Attendance Allowance
  • Additional top-ups may apply for carers or those in supported housing

DWP will send a notification letter confirming your specific payment amount before or around 1 June.

Why Direct Deposit Only?

The DWP has moved entirely to direct bank transfers for speed, security, and accuracy. This means:

  • Payments reach your account faster — usually within 24 hours of release
  • There is no risk of a cheque getting lost in the post
  • Your personal data is more secure compared to paper-based payments
  • You can track the payment easily through your bank’s online or mobile app

If you normally receive benefit payments via Post Office card account, be aware that those accounts are no longer supported by DWP. You must have a standard bank, building society, or credit union account linked to your DWP record.

5 Things Seniors Must Do Before 1 June

Don’t risk a delay in your payment — take these simple steps right away:

  1. Log in to your DWP account or call the Pension Service on 0800 731 0469 to confirm your bank details are correct
  2. Check your bank statement from May to see if previous DWP payments have been arriving without issues
  3. Update your address if you’ve moved recently, as DWP sends confirmation letters to your registered address
  4. Inform DWP of any changes in your living situation, such as a new carer, change in income, or hospital stay
  5. Do not share your bank details with anyone claiming to help you claim this payment — DWP will never ask for this over social media or text

What If the Money Doesn’t Arrive on 1 June?

Don’t panic if the payment doesn’t show up on the exact date. Bank processing times can sometimes cause a delay of 1–2 working days. However, if your account shows nothing by 5 June 2026, you should:

  • Contact DWP directly on 0800 731 0469 (free from most UK landlines)
  • Visit your local Citizens Advice Bureau for in-person help
  • Ask a trusted family member to help you check your online DWP account

Watch Out for Scams

Sadly, whenever the government announces payments for seniors, scammers follow. Be extremely cautious of:

  • Text messages or emails claiming to be from DWP asking you to “verify” your bank details
  • Phone calls offering to “fast-track” your payment for a fee
  • Fake websites that look like official gov.uk pages

The real DWP will never contact you asking for your bank details, PIN, or passwords. If you receive any suspicious message, report it to Action Fraud at 0300 123 2040.

Spread the Word

Many seniors, especially those living alone or with limited internet access, may not be aware of this June payment. If you have an elderly neighbour, parent, or friend who might be eligible, please share this article with them or help them contact DWP directly.

Every penny of support counts — make sure no senior misses out on what they’re rightfully owed.
