Jhanak: Arrest and Investigation Loom, The Protagonist’s Fight
An officer is asked why he has not arrested the girl yet . The officer confirms he is going forward with the action. Then, the male protagonist immediately speaks up. He firmly states that the girl is not a thief .
The officer warns the protagonist not to interfere. He tells him, “Do not force me to take official action against you.” The officer explains that the decision must be based on the available evidence. He orders the protagonist to come along with him .
A Case for the Court
The protagonist pleads with the officer. He argues that the officer cannot proceed with the arrest. He insists he will not allow the arrest to happen. Instead, he threatens to take the entire case to court if the officer proceeds.
Jhanak’s Future is at Stake
A third character, who is observing the scene, tells the protagonist he may join the investigation. She says that if Jhanak is innocent, the investigation will prove it. The observer adds that she would be happy with that result.
She explains her feelings. She does not want people to call Jhanak a thief. Because of Jhanak’s background, the chance to study is a very big deal]. “I do not want her education to be damaged,” the observer states. However, she warns that if Jhanak is proven guilty, the police must take action against her .
