Mukhyamantri Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana 2026: Eligibility, Benefits & Apply Online

Published on

Mukhyamantri Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana 2026 launched by the Punjab government provides direct monthly cash assistance to women across the state, with disbursements beginning on 13 April 2026.

The scheme aims to strengthen women’s financial independence, improve their participation in household decisions, enhance health and nutrition, and encourage higher education for girls. Under this initiative, eligible women receive ₹1,000 per month, while women belonging to Scheduled Castes (SCs) receive ₹1,500 per month.

Payments are transferred directly into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts, ensuring transparency and timely delivery. The Punjab government has allocated ₹9,300 crore for the scheme in the financial year 2026‑27, reflecting its commitment to universal cash transfer for women.

Overview of the Scheme

Mukhyamantri Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana 2026 is described by the Punjab Finance Minister as the world’s first universal cash transfer scheme for women. It covers approximately 97 % of women aged 18 years and above in Punjab, making it one of the largest direct benefit programmes in the country.

The scheme excludes current or former government employees, MPs/MLAs, and income‑tax paying women from its benefits. Social Security and Women & Child Development Department acts as the nodal department for implementation. Applications are accepted through an offline mode, requiring applicants to submit a form at designated centres.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for Mukhyamantri Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana 2026, an applicant must be a woman residing in Punjab and aged 18 years or older. She must not be a current or former government employee, nor a serving or former Member of Parliament or Legislative Assembly. Women who pay income tax are also ineligible for the scheme.

The scheme includes women receiving old‑age, widow, or disability pensions, ensuring coverage for vulnerable groups. Applicants need to provide proof of residence, such as a domicile certificate, along with identity proof like an Aadhaar card. No minimum educational qualification is required to apply.

Benefits and Financial Assistance

Eligible women from the general category receive a monthly stipend of ₹1,000 credited directly to their bank accounts. Women belonging to Scheduled Castes receive a higher monthly amount of ₹1,500 under the same scheme. The assistance is intended to be used for household expenses, health, nutrition, and educational support for daughters.

Payments are made on a monthly basis, starting from the scheme’s launch date of 13 April 2026. The direct benefit transfer method eliminates intermediaries and ensures that the full amount reaches the intended beneficiary. The government expects the scheme to improve women’s economic agency and decision‑making power within families.

How to Apply Online

Although the scheme primarily accepts offline applications, applicants can initiate the process by downloading the application form from the Punjab government’s official portal. The form requires personal details, residence information, bank account particulars, and income declaration. After filling the form, applicants must submit it at the nearest Tehsil office, Block office, or designated women‑and‑child development centre.

Applicants should attach photocopies of their Aadhaar card, domicile certificate, and bank passbook first page with the application. Upon submission, officials provide an acknowledgement receipt containing a reference number for tracking. The verification process typically takes 15‑20 days before the first instalment is released.

Required Documents

Applicants need to furnish a valid Aadhaar card as proof of identity and address. A Punjab domicile certificate confirms permanent residence in the state. The bank passbook first page, showing the account holder’s name matching the Aadhaar, is essential for direct benefit transfer.

A recent passport‑size photograph may be required for the application form. No income certificate is mandatory, as the scheme does not impose an income ceiling; however, applicants may voluntarily declare their financial status. All documents must be self‑attested where applicable.

Payment Process and Schedule

Once an application is verified, the finance department initiates the monthly transfer of ₹1,000 or ₹1,500 to the beneficiary’s linked bank account. Payments are credited on a fixed date each month, usually the first week, to ensure predictability. Beneficiaries can check their transaction status via their bank’s mobile app or by visiting the branch with their passbook.

The scheme does not provide any lumpsum amount; assistance is strictly monthly for the duration of the financial year 2026‑27. In case of failed transfers due to incorrect bank details, applicants must visit the submission centre to update their information.

Important Dates and Validity

Mukhyamantri Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana 2026 officially commences on 13 April 2026, as announced in the Punjab budget for 2026‑27. The scheme remains active throughout the financial year, concluding on 31 March 2027. Applications are accepted from the launch date until the end of the financial year, allowing eligible women to enrol at any time.

The government has not announced any extension beyond 2026‑27 as of now. Beneficiaries who miss a monthly instalment due to verification delays can claim the arrears once their documents are cleared.
