The Farsa Wale Baba death sent shockwaves through Mathura and the broader Braj region on March 20, 2026, after prominent cow-protection saint Chandrasekhar popularly known as Farsa Wale Baba died in the Kosikalan area after an alleged vehicle belonging to cattle smugglers deliberately ran over his motorcycle near Navipur village in the early morning hours.

The incident triggered an immediate and furious response from hundreds of Gau Rakshaks who blocked the Delhi-Agra National Highway at Chhata, bringing traffic to a complete standstill, with long queues of trucks and other vehicles stretching for kilometres on one of India’s busiest highway stretches.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the Mathura incident within hours and directed senior officials to ensure strict and immediate action against all accused without any leniency.

How the Attack Happened in Pre-Dawn Hours

According to accounts reported by Aaj Tak and Amar Ujala, Farsa Wale Baba received information at approximately 4:00 AM on March 20 that cattle smugglers were active in the Kosikalan area.

He immediately mounted his motorcycle and set out alone to intercept and pursue the suspected smugglers in the dark a course of action consistent with his longstanding reputation as a frontline cow-protection activist who regularly confronted smugglers directly in the Braj region.

When Baba’s motorcycle closed in on the smugglers’ vehicle near Navipur village, the occupants of the vehicle allegedly chose not to stop or flee instead deliberately reversing or driving their vehicle into his motorcycle, crushing him under the wheels. He died on the spot from the impact before any emergency assistance could reach him.

One Suspect Caught, Three Flee in Darkness

The timing of the attack the dead of night worked in favour of the fleeing accused. Local residents and Gau Rakshaks who had gathered at the scene managed to apprehend one accused Muslim youth who could not escape in the confusion.

The remaining three alleged attackers exploited the darkness and the chaos that followed to flee the scene and remain absconding as of the morning of March 20. Local police arrived at Navipur village to secure the scene, recover the body, and take the apprehended suspect into custody for questioning with investigators expressing hope that the detained individual’s interrogation would yield critical leads about the identities and locations of the three fugitives.

Local residents and Gau Rakshaks alleged at the scene that the killing was premeditated that the smugglers specifically targeted Farsa Wale Baba because of his persistent and well-known efforts to obstruct their cattle smuggling operations in the Kosikalan-Chhata belt.

Delhi-Agra Highway Blocked as Gau Rakshaks Demand Justice

News of the killing spread rapidly through WhatsApp groups and local networks across the Braj region, reaching hundreds of Gau Rakshaks within hours of the incident. By early morning, large groups converged on the Chhata area of the Delhi-Agra National Highway one of the most heavily trafficked arterial roads in Uttar Pradesh connecting the national capital with Agra, Mathura, and Kanpur and physically stopped all moving vehicles including trucks, passenger buses, and private cars. The blockade created a severe traffic jam that stretched well beyond the Chhata toll area in both directions.

Amar Ujala’s coverage additionally confirmed that stone pelting occurred during the protest creating panic among stranded motorists in the Chhata stretch and forcing local residents to remain indoors. Chhata police deployed additional personnel at the blockade site to attempt to pacify the crowd and restore traffic movement, but reports suggest the situation remained tense through the morning hours of March 20.

CM Yogi’s Directive and Political Response

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath responded within hours of the incident reaching his office. He publicly stated that the accused would face consequences regardless of circumstances using language that his office has consistently employed in cow-protection-related violence cases and ordered district and state police officials to ensure the arrest of all three absconding accused at the earliest. The CM’s acknowledgement of the case and his direct instruction to officials confirmed the political significance of the incident, which occurred on Eid-ul-Fitr March 20, 2026.

The incident immediately drew sharp commentary from Hindu nationalist organisations, with leaders of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal calling for the arrest of all accused and describing Farsa Wale Baba as a martyr for cow protection. Not publicly disclosed as of mid-March 2026 are the identities and district of origin of the three absconding accused or the specific police sections registered against the suspect in custody.

Who Was Farsa Wale Baba

Chandrasekhar known throughout the Braj region by his popular name Farsa Wale Baba earned his moniker from the farsa (battle axe) he reportedly carried as a symbol during his cow-protection activities.

He built a substantial following across Mathura, Agra, and surrounding districts of western Uttar Pradesh over years of frontline activism against cattle smuggling an issue that carries deep religious and political significance in a region with the highest concentration of pilgrimage infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh.

Reports suggest he had previously been involved in multiple direct confrontations with smugglers in the Kosikalan and Chhata belt, and his name was well-known to local law enforcement, cattle traders, and Gau Rakshak networks alike.
