Jibon Prerana Scheme 2026: See Eligibility Before Applying

Published on

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s Jibon Prerana Scheme Provides ₹2,500 Per Month for 12 Months to Unemployed Fresh Graduates of 2025 From Government Colleges in Assam DBT Payments Active From February 2026 With Beneficiary List Verified Through a Three-Stage Institutional Process

The Jibon Prerana Scheme 2026 has already begun disbursing monthly payments from February 2026 to thousands of verified fresh graduates across Assam but a large number of applicants still need to check their current verification stage before their first payment arrives. The Chief Minister’s Jibon Prerana Scheme, launched on November 3, 2025 under the Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship Department of the Government of Assam, delivers ₹2,500 per month directly into a beneficiary’s Aadhaar-linked bank account for a total period of 12 months — providing ₹30,000 over the year. The government earmarked ₹25 crore specifically to fund this scheme in its inaugural phase.

Motive Behind Jibon Prerana Scheme 2026

Assam produces thousands of fresh graduates every year from government-funded colleges most of whom enter a highly competitive job market with no financial support during their initial search for employment. The Jibon Prerana Scheme addresses this gap directly by providing a structured monthly stipend that supports graduates through their job search, competitive examination preparation, and early-stage self-employment planning.

The government designed the scheme to serve a very specific window in a graduate’s life the period immediately after completing a degree when income is zero but daily expenses, transport costs, exam fees, and skill development investments continue.

Full Eligibility Criteria: Read Every Condition Before Applying

The government enforces strict eligibility conditions. Missing even one condition results in automatic rejection during the college-level or department-level verification stage:

  • Permanent resident of Assam — out-of-state applicants do not qualify regardless of the college they attended
  • Fresh graduate of 2025 only — 2024 or earlier graduates do not qualify, and this batch-specific restriction applies strictly
  • Graduated from a State or Central Government college inside Assam — private colleges and open university students are explicitly excluded
  • Currently unemployed — applicants in any paid job, apprenticeship, or salaried training programme at the time of application do not qualify
  • Not enrolled in any professional or vocational course after graduation
  • Annual family income below ₹10 lakh — families of professionals earning above this threshold face automatic disqualification
  • Not a Mukhyamantri Nijut Moina Scheme beneficiary — dual benefit under both schemes is not permitted

Disqualification Categories: Who Cannot Apply

The government lists several specific categories of applicants who face immediate rejection regardless of income or graduation status:

  • Children of MLAs, MPs, Ministers, or former holders of those positions
  • Children of government employees or pensioners — with the specific exception of Grade IV (Class IV) employees, whose children remain eligible
  • Children of government-registered contractors or builders
  • Students from private colleges or open universities — a condition enforced strictly to ensure the benefit reaches only publicly-funded education beneficiaries

How to Check Your Application Status in 2026

Applications closed on November 30, 2025, and institute-level verification completed by December 31, 2025. Department-level verification finished by January 10, 2026, after which monthly DBT transfers started from February 1, 2026. If you applied and want to confirm your current status, follow these steps on the DIDS portal:

  1. Visit the official portal: dids.assam.gov.in
  2. Log in using your registered mobile number and password
  3. Navigate to “My Applications” on the dashboard
  4. Select the Chief Minister’s Jibon Prerana Scheme from your application list
  5. Your status will show one of four stage labels:

Documents Required for Verification

Applicants whose status shows as pending at the college or university stage may need to re-submit documents for physical verification. Keep these ready:

  • Aadhaar card — mandatory for identity and DBT linkage
  • Graduation pass-out certificate confirming 2025 batch
  • Domicile certificate of Assam
  • Family annual income certificate confirming income below ₹10 lakh
  • Ration card as residential address proof
  • Passport-size photograph (recent)
  • Registered mobile number linked to Aadhaar

What Happens After Approval: DBT Payment Process

Once the Department of Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship clears a beneficiary’s file, the ₹2,500 credit activates for 12 consecutive months transferred directly to the beneficiary’s Aadhaar-seeded bank account via DBT on a fixed monthly schedule from February 2026. The government does not issue any physical letter or separate confirmation notice the bank credit itself serves as confirmation of active beneficiary status.

Applicants who did not receive the February 2026 credit despite a “Disbursement” status should visit their bank branch to verify Aadhaar-bank seeding and ensure no DBT rejection has occurred due to a name mismatch or inactive account.
