Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra

Officially Unveiled at Galaxy Unpacked on February 25, 2026 and Available in India From ₹1,39,999, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Arrives, a 200MP ProVisual Camera System, a Pixel-Level Privacy Display, 60W Wired Fast Charging, and Seven Years of OS Updates

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra officially launched at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event on February 25 and the specifications confirm that this is the most technically advanced smartphone Samsung has ever released, outperforming every predecessor across processing, camera intelligence, display technology, and AI performance.

Samsung released the phone to retail shelves on March 11, 2026, with India pricing starting at ₹1,39,999 for the 12GB + 256GB base variant. The 512GB model carries a price of ₹1,59,999, and the top-tier 1TB + 16GB RAM configuration retails at ₹1,89,999.

A Processor That Dominates Every Benchmark

The Galaxy S26 Ultra runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (SM8850-AC) the world’s fastest mobile processor at launch, built on a 3-nanometre architecture. Unlike the standard Galaxy S26 and S26+ models, which use the Exynos 2600 in India and most global markets, Samsung chose to equip the Ultra with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in every single market worldwide a rare decision that ensures every S26 Ultra buyer globally gets identical flagship-grade performance.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Chip

The chip features an octa-core CPU configuration with two prime cores clocked at 4.74 GHz and six efficiency cores at 3.62 GHz, paired with the Adreno 840 GPU. Samsung highlights a 39% boost to the Advanced NPU compared to last year’s chip translating to measurably faster on-device AI processing for Galaxy AI tasks including live translation, generative photo editing, and intelligent battery management.

The Camera System Samsung Calls Its Brightest Ever

The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s rear camera array centres on a 200MP wide sensor with an f/1.4 aperture wider than any previous Galaxy Ultra lens and wider than most competing flagships. Samsung powers the entire camera system through its ProVisual Engine, which the company says improves image processing precision by 4x compared to the S25 Ultra by leveraging the enhanced NPU for real-time scene optimisation.

The full rear camera configuration breaks down as follows:

CameraResolutionApertureNotes
Main Wide200 MPf/1.424mm, PDAF, OIS
Ultra Wide50 MPf/1.9Wider aperture than S25 Ultra
Telephoto (5x optical)50 MPf/2.9Long-range zoom
Telephoto (3x optical)10 MPMid-range zoom
Front Camera12 MPSelfie and video calls

The f/1.4 main aperture represents Samsung’s widest-ever primary lens on an Ultra model capturing meaningfully more light in low-visibility conditions than the f/1.7 aperture on the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Bigger, Brighter, and Now Private Display

The Galaxy S26 Ultra carries a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a QHD+ resolution of 3120 x 1440 pixels and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. Samsung confirms this panel reaches the highest peak brightness output of any Galaxy display to date the exact nit value remains not publicly disclosed in Samsung’s official materials at launch.

The headline display feature is the Pixel-Level Privacy Display a first for the Galaxy Ultra line. This technology selectively darkens individual pixels at the screen’s edges when shoulder-surfing is detected, making sensitive content such as banking apps, messages, and passwords visible only to the person holding the phone directly in front of it. Samsung itself confirmed the privacy display as a key highlight before launch, describing it as a direct response to user research on public smartphone usage concerns.

Charging, Battery, and Endurance

The Galaxy S26 Ultra carries a 5,000mAh typical battery capacity identical to the S25 Ultra in size but significantly more efficient in real-world endurance due to the new chip’s improved power management. Samsung promises up to 31 hours of continuous video playback in standard conditions.

Charging sees a meaningful upgrade this generation:

  • 60W wired fast charging — up from 45W on the Galaxy S25 Ultra
  • 25W fast wireless charging — up from 15W on previous Galaxy Ultra models
  • Reverse wireless charging supported for accessories including Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Buds

Samsung’s own marketing confirms that 60W wired charging delivers up to 75% battery in approximately 30 minutes.

Design, S Pen, and Storage

The Galaxy S26 Ultra measures 163.6 x 78.1 x 7.9mm and weighs 214 grams marginally slimmer than its predecessor while maintaining the same integrated S Pen slot. The S Pen remains a defining differentiator for the Ultra line in 2026, supporting pressure-sensitive note-taking, document annotation, and in-app stylus input across One UI 8.5.

Storage configurations run from 256GB to 1TB, all using the faster UFS 4.0 standard for read and write speeds that outperform the UFS 3.1 storage on older Galaxy models. The phone launches in four retail colours Cobalt Violet, White, Black, and Sky Blue with Pink Gold and Silver Shadow available exclusively through Samsung.com.

Software Android 16, One UI 8.5, and Seven Years of Updates

The Galaxy S26 Ultra ships with Android 16 and One UI 8.5 out of the box. Samsung commits to 7 years of OS updates and security patches matching the commitment it introduced with the Galaxy S24 series and making the S26 Ultra one of the longest-supported Android devices currently available.

Galaxy AI Samsung’s suite of on-device artificial intelligence tools runs natively on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5’s enhanced NPU, covering features including Live Translate, Generative Edit, Note Assist, Chat Assist, and Transcript Assist for voice recordings and calls.
